We're On The Move

Like many other family members and friends, things appear to be looking bright, moving forward, on the right track. Opportunities and experiences to showcase our products, gifts and talents are being presented in unique and surprising ways.

On August 15, 2019, I had an opportunity to be featured in The Muse. The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County's electronic newsletter under the heading Hidden Face: Volunteerism http://www.themuseac.com/ written by Metoya Scott.

When I was approached about being interviewed a few weeks ago, I was pleasantly surprised. It was an opportunity to share my story of volunteering and partnering with the Arts Council and it really afforded me an ooccasion to reflect on how my time and resources were not only appreciated by the Arts Council, but how they valued me as a person and member of the community as well. This photo shows me during my time serving on the Board of Trustees at the Arts Council during the summer of 2014.

This past Thursday, August 29, 2019, my friends Brenda Joyce Johnson, Yolanda Burse and I had a wonderful experience participating in the Special Edition Business After Hours Block Party hosted by the Greater Fayetteville Chamber. It was an afternoon and evening of meeting new people, laughing with old friends, vendors displaying their products and discussing the services they provide.

There was also dancing, cheering, modeling, singing and other activities that coincided with the exhibit "50 Years of Fayetteville African American Businesses 1900-1950" currently on display at the Fayetteville Area Transportation & Local History Museum.

The entire event was positive, motivating, uplifting and inspiring.

As I now quietly reflect on the many positive and inspiring moments and milestones taking place all around me, I'm loving this rendition of Happy Days Are Here Again by Tommy Fleming. It is currently playing in unison to a poem titled On Track, written by my sister, Katrina Osborne on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DNUcaMPB6Q&feature=youtu.be.

In the poem, one particular stanza goes this way:

No more will I be down with the blues 'Cause life's way too short for that I've got a whole lot to offer the world

And believe it baby I know I'm on the right track

Amen sister, yes so many of us are on the right track and on the move too! And oh yes, Mr. Fleming, happy times, happy nights, happy days are here again.

Continue to take good care of yourself,

Love ya,
