Jill Patrick, Present.
Leading up to one of the most exciting events to occur in my life for quite some time, I had been preparing myself as best I could for several weeks and months.
Back in October 2019, I was invited to attend the WW Presents Oprah's 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus Tour. After the research was completed and the tickets purchased, my friend, Eva and I had to go on about our daily business; waiting patiently with a mix of anxiety, seriousness and giddiness for Saturday, January 18, 2020 to arrive. Well actually, January 17th, as we had arranged to go to Charlotte the Queen City the night before to avoid any possibility of running late for this incredible moment in time.
A few days after our acquisition as proud ticket holders, we would take part in an unplanned and spontaneous mini photo session one evening in the front parking lot of a local Chick-fil-A restaurant. "Excuse me, Sir," Eva called to a group of young men, probably soldiers. "Could you please take our picture?" she asked. A young man came over, Eva and I plopped down, smiled, laughed and posed for our photos. The young man, Eva and I then went about our separate ways.
In what looked to be a department store photograph, here we were, wide smiles within the frame of a vignette, courtesy of Eva and her fancy cell phone features.
At the Oprah event, included inside of our event gift bags was a WW Presents Oprah's 2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus Workbook. In the workbook there is a collection of reading passages, photographs, activities, nuggets of information and quotes. A special gift I intend to use and reflect upon for many years to come.
At this present moment, just a few short days since the magic someone such as Ms. Winfrey can bring to a crowd of 14,000 people, I'm still feeling a sense of excitement. I feel present and accounted for in my own life's journey. I must remind myself if not daily, but often enough, to be "full of myself" as was suggested by Ms. Winfrey. I desire to be patient, loving, proud, enthused, grateful and kind to the truest version of my possible self.
No more must I grin and bear, I must find true meaning and purpose in the choices there, inside of my soul.
Take good care of yourself and find your moment to find your presence,
