I Look Ahead
I am so excited to have Kathy Lowe Northe as the first guest blogger on my website. This is a very exciting experience for the both of us. After reading her article, please share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
Her blog begins here... I can still remember my first job. I was in the 11th grade at Seventy First High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and one of my classes was designed to allow juniors and seniors the opportunity to leave school at a certain time during the school day to go into the community work force. I remember signing out of school weekly around lunch time to go to my worksite. I worked at one of the Post Exchanges (PX) on Fort Bragg as a cashier. I have always had a motivation and determination to work and I thank God that my health has always been good. It was my experience as a cashier that actually taught me how to “count back change.”
I often reminisce about the jobs that I have had over the years as a cashier at various stores include the PX, Belk, Disney Children’s Store and Kentucky Fried Chicken, which would play a special role in the early formative years as a dependable, responsible and trustworthy employee.
After attending college, my career goals shifted towards the educational field. For several decades I was employed as a classroom teacher and/or administrator with the Cumberland County Head Start Program, the More At Four PreK Program, Wake County Schools System, Harnett County Schools System, Cumberland County Schools System, Weldon City Schools System, Harnett County Schools System and DoDEA on Fort Bragg.
After nearly 55 years of working, I am now officially retired. I was blessed to have a successful career with over forty years in the field of education.
As I look ahead, I will continue to enjoy retirement, spending time with family and friends, and embracing new opportunities that will come my way.
Always Looking Ahead,
